The month of November can represent change as the temperature drops and the days feel shorter. November can also represent a time of reflection, thinking deeply about what it means to be thankful and how to give thanks. Developing a gratitude mindset is work that can go beyond this time of year. There are things you can do daily to help improve your overall well-being by increasing your happiness and reducing stress!

Having spent almost two years adjusting to a new normal, developing a gratitude mindset is more important than ever. We here at Focused Solutions are here to provide you with tips to cultivate this mindset:

Start your day with gratitude. When you begin your day, think of three things for which you are thankful. It can be as simple as having a moment to have a cup of coffee or reflecting on something that went well. Being thankful for the small things can help start your day off right!

Keep a gratitude journal. Writing down what you are grateful for is a great way to reflect on the things that brought you moments of joy. You can start by writing daily or weekly two to three things for which you are grateful.

Write a note. Have you ever thought about something someone else did for you and wanted to thank that person or thank them again? The good news is, you are always in a position to tell someone “thank you”! If you know the person, consider writing and sending a note of thanks to brighten their day. This activity can also work to strengthen your relationship. If you don’t know them personally, you can still write a note. Doing this becomes an exercise of reflection in addition to gratitude.
